Expert Bio: After graduating from the University of Kansas with a degree in geography, I started in the travel business with Maupintour in the Kansas City area. I took a ten year break to stay home with my young children, but have been back in the business for many years! Geography and the travel business are a perfect match for me! Travel is a great way to understand the world around us and I love helping people create lasting memories through their travel adventures!
Trip highlights include:
I enjoyed a great family vacation to the Guanacaste area of Costa Rica, the country that pioneered eco-tourism. The scenic, natural beauty of this country is amazing. Our family members enjoyed lots of soft adventure activities such as surfing, horseback riding, ziplining and hiking.
Hosting an Explorer Club sailing on Holland America’s “Rotterdam” to the Baltic was a super experience. We spent time in London before boarding the ship in Harwich and sailing to all of the Scandinavian capitals, as well as other cities such as St. Petersburg, Russia. We ended in Copenhagen, definitely one of my favorite cities!
Sailing on the Azamara “Journey” was a great way to experience a smaller, upper premium cruise line. Azamara is like a boutique hotel in character. Their port intensive itineraries focus on overnight stops at some ports, which enables the passengers to experience local nightlife in great cities like Monte Carlo or Barcelona!
River cruising is an increasingly popular way to see the interior of Europe. Cruising on the Rhine River with AMA Waterways was a wonderful way to see the beautiful castles and quaint towns along the river. This cruise had a wine theme, so we also visited wineries along the way! My goal is to experience river cruising on many other rivers throughout the world!
Seeing the polar bears of Churchill, Manitoba, was definitely an amazing adventure!!! Natural Habitat Adventures is a great nature-oriented company with outstanding expedition leaders. There are only 15 guests per tour and Natural Habitat provides the parkas and boots! (Great for us Floridians!!!)
Cruising the Danube with Uniworld River Cruises was a wonderful experience. Uniworld is a boutique style river cruise company that provides amazing service and food. Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Salzburg and Passau were highlights!
I am looking forward to traveling with Tauck Tours to see “America’s Canyonlands” October 3, 2016! What a great way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the U.S. National Park Service.
