Christina explores Morocco while attending PURE

In September, Christina attended the PURE conference. PURE is one of the world’s leading experiential travel shows that connects experiential travel’s most inspiring names each year. Advisors and suppliers gather for three days in Marrakech so they can build relationships and find new ways of doing business while changing worlds, for both travelers and local communities. After the conference, Christina enjoyed a few days exploring Morocco.

Favorite moment of the trip:
Sunrise Camel Ride in the Desert!

Something funny that happened during the trip:
Watching the camels get up and down was fun. 🙂

Favorite Food and Beverage on the trip:
All the different Tajines! & Moroccan Mint Tea!

A “culture shock” moment:
I learned that guns are illegal in Morocco. Even many of the police do not carry a gun. Sharpened knives are also illegal as they are considered weapons. I felt very safe while traveling around the country.

What are some things you wish you had known before the trip, and how could you prepare for a return trip to this destination?
The Medina is a highlight and there were so many fun souks to explore and shop! I tend to pack lightly and ended up buying two extra pieces of luggage while there, to bring things home that I purchased for our home, gifts, etc.

A personal experience in the culture and interactions with locals:
I thought it was interesting that people spoke Arabic, Berber, French and English primarily. Many spoke Spanish as well, making them fluent in 5 different languages. Impressive!
