A Week in Spain with Tauck: Debbie’s Cultural Immersion Adventure
Debbie recently returned from Tauck’s A Week in Spain tour, and what an unforgettable journey it was! Although the itinerary was full and fast-paced, she’s so glad she took part. The trip offered an incredible overview of Spanish culture, history, and architecture.
Her adventure began in Barcelona, where she marveled at the iconic Sagrada Família and stayed within walking distance of Gaudí’s Casa Milà, which she explored independently. From there, the group flew to Málaga, where Debbie visited the Picasso Museum—a stop that challenged her artistic perceptions, though she enjoyed trying to understand the painter’s unique vision.
Next, the tour moved inland to Granada for a breathtaking visit to the Alhambra Palace, a highlight of Moorish architecture and Spanish history. Then it was on to Seville for two nights, where the city’s beauty truly captivated her. A horse-drawn carriage ride, a visit to the Seville Cathedral, and a self-guided tour of the bullfighting arena gave her a deep appreciation for the city’s rich cultural layers.
The journey continued to Córdoba, where Debbie was particularly moved by the La Mezquita Mosque-Cathedral, a brilliant example of Spain’s multicultural heritage and one of her personal trip highlights.
The final leg brought her to Madrid via high-speed train, where she visited the world-renowned Prado Museum—a return visit from her Douro River cruise—and explored the Royal Palace, the largest in Europe. The sheer opulence of the palace left a lasting impression.
